Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church Preschool seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Director to join our amazing team! This opportunity invites you to work on a collaborative team and make a difference in the lives of children as they embark on their first classroom experience. We are looking for a warm,  organized, and charismatic Assistant Director to partner with us as we shape the minds of young children. Together, we will foster the care we have for each other, our families, and their children as they launch their educational journey and walk with God.

If you join our team as the Assistant Director, you will:
  • Project an inspiring, positive, and upbeat attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsible for the programmatic functions associated with the preschool's operation (attendance lists, registration, etc.).
  • Manage the budget and use ProCare (the preschool accounting program) to process all family payments. 
  • Process vendor payments for the church office and track annual budget expenses.
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills are required to communicate effectively with the director, teachers, preschool staff, parents, and church staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of school records and administrative information.
  • Effectively manage the administrative and clerical functions associated with the preschool operation (answering the phone and email correspondence, maintaining files for children and staff, ordering classroom supplies and snack supplies, and assisting the director and preschool staff with all state and local government licensing standards. 
  • Serves as Acting Director when the Director is off-site
  • Occasionally will spend 4 hours in the classroom covering teachers during breaks or absences when substitutes are unavailable.  
Required Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education Units, with Additional Admin Units
  • 2 years experience working in the administration of a school with a preference for experience working as a Preschool Director, Interim Director, or Assistant Director.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.

  • Demonstrate the ability to set priorities, focus on the most important, and multi-task when needed.
  • Team player, creative problem solver, self-starter, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with many interruptions and distractions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with everyone associated with the preschool.
  • Time management skills - can set a project schedule and meet all project/program deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Google Suite, ProCare, a bonus.
  • Website management and marketing experience.
  • Growing and deepening faith in Jesus Christ.

Reports to Director of the Preschool

Hours: 35-37 hours per week

Schedule: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday, with flexibility to respond after
hours as well, August - June ( July, the preschool is closed) 

Back up for Preschool teachers and Director 
Compensation: $27.50 per hour
